Contours of Memory, 2025, Prima Kunst, Kiel
The exhibition Contours of Memory is a site-specific, painterly installation in which personal memories, cultural traditions, and sacred geometric forms intertwine. Among sculptural structures, organic lines and rhythmic repetitions emerge, evoking ritual gestures from Bulgarian folk culture — symbols of protection, healing, and renewal. The works in the exhibition do not depict specific ritual objects; rather, they reflect their energy and symbolic power, filtered through Ana Kostova’s visual intuition. In her compositions, the memory of rituals related to health, fertility, and a deep connection to nature is palpable. These movements generate a sense of sacred cyclicality and inner transformation. Kostova does not create a narrative space, but rather a place of contemplation, inviting viewers to reconsider their perception of time, place, and spirituality. Her geometric compositions form a symbolic landscape infused with color, rhythm, and cultural codes through which the artist explores the connection between her personal history and collective memory, reinterpreting traditional signs as a universal visual language.
